Negative Self-Talk

"I can never be fit and healthy; I just do not have the time." "Why even try when I do not see results right away?" We all find ourselves caught up in negative self-talk from time to time. Unfortunately, negative self-talk hinders our motivation and destroys our confidence. Challenge those negative thoughts. Do not allow them to stop you from achieving your goals. Instead, praise yourself for every step (big or small) you take toward living a healthy lifestyle. Start today by telling yourself what you "can" do and not what you "cannot" do.

Stroke

Did you know that studies show nearly 80% of strokes are preventable? Some modifiable risk factors include smoking, hypertension, obesity, diabetes, and high cholesterol. Recognition of the various risk factors is an important step toward prevention.

As many of you know, my father suffered a major stroke in January 2013. He since has suffered a TIA and another stroke. Although it is difficult to witness the debilitation from the strokes, I believe there is always good that can come out of even such life events. Therefore, my goal is to educate as many people as possible regarding stroke prevention.
